Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Can I still get help and services if I cannot afford to pay for the expenses?

Wil-Care nursing services are available to those who have limited income and assets through:
    1. Department of Human Services-Adult Services Division, Chore Provider Program in the Michigan county of residence.
    2. Area Agency on Aging Medicaid Waiver-Care Management programs.
    3. Private Insurance with approval prior to beginning services, including automobile, long term care, heath and worker compensation.
    4. Reverse Mortgage Financing.

  2. What areas of Southwest Michigan does Wil-Care Nursing serve?

Wil-Care Nursing is provides services to residents of Allegan, Barry, Branch, Calhoun, Cass, Kalamazoo, St. Joseph, VanBuren Counties.

  3. When meal preparation is provided, who plans the meals? How are special dietary needs met?

As long as a client is able to express his/her own food preferences, they plan their own shopping list and direct the home care workers on how they would like the food prepared. Clients provide Wil-Care's Home Care Staff with special instructions about dietary needs, and will make their own decisions about the food they wish to have prepared.

  4. Is there a physician available for emergencies?

Wil-Care feels the best possible physician for meeting the needs of our client is their own personal physician. Wil-Care works in conjunction with the client's physician and medical specialists for any and all medical and emergency needs. Utilizing the client's personal physician improves the continuity of care for the client.

  5. Is the agency Medicare or Medicaid certified?

Wil-Care Nursing strives to keep the cost of services to its clients as low as possible. To obtain Medicare and Medicaid certification would cost thousands of dollars and divert time from providing clients with quality services. Wil-Care provides services on the Medicaid Waiver Program and is subject to internal reviews by the Area Agency on Aging offices.

  6. What is the agency's process for scheduling visits?

Client home visits are scheduled according to the client's wishes. In cases funded by the Medicaid Waiver-Managed Care Programs a visit schedule is provided by the client's Case/Care Manager. Wil-Care is able to work with the client and the Case/Care Manager to tailor the visit schedule for the needs and wishes of the client.

  7. Is staff available to provide 24-hour assistance?

Yes. Wil-Care Nursing is able to provide client services for as few as two hours per visit on-call as needed, up to 24 hours per day seven days each week.
